WESTERN ARISTOCRAT THIRD IN G1 HOLLYWOOD DERBYSunday, November 27, 2011
WESTERN ARISTOCRAT made his second start in the USA and he finished a rapidly closing third in the G1, $250,000 Hollywood Derby going ten furlongs over the firm turf course at Hollywood Park.

REGALLY READY WINS BREEDERS' CUP TURF SPRINT!Saturday, November 05, 2011
After REGALLY READY won a Churchill Downs turf allowance last fall by nearly eight lengths, Scott Blasi was convinced of one thing. “This one’s the real deal,” said Blasi, the assistant to trainer Steve Asmussen.

On Saturday, with Blasi cheering before the television cameras, REGALLY READY proved all that and more by dominating the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Churchill, defeating 13 others as the 2-1 favorite. Country Day, a 33-1 shot, was second, 1 1/2 lengths behind the winner and another three-quarters of a length before Perfect Officer.

REGALLY READY returned $6.60 to win after finishing the five-furlong distance in 56.48 seconds over a good turf.

Rapport led to the turn, with Regally Ready racing easily along his inside flank. After turning for home, REGALLY READY opened up, with the group of Great Attack, Country Day, Perfect Officer, and Caracortado picking up a futile chase.

“My job today was so easy it wasn’t even funny,” jockey Corey Nakatani said. REGALLY READY “broke awesome, basically outbroke the field. Once I got past the horse on my right, it was basically over after that.”

REGALLY READY WINS G1 NEARCTIC STAKESSunday, October 16, 2011
REGALLY READY our homebred son of MORE THAN READY, became the the third G1 winner bred and raised by Vinery this season with his tough as nails win in the $500,000 Nearctic Stakes (G1) going six furlongs over the yielding turf course at Woodbine.

Sharply away, he quickly cleared the field and established a clear length and one-half lead. Under a patient and brilliant ride by Corey Nakatani, REGALLY READY responded when the closers came calling in the final furlong to win by a neck.

“The main thing with him is to get him relaxed,” said Nakatani. “His first comeback race (at Monmouth Park after a midseason freshening) he got a little late but Steve said ‘Don’t worry about it. We’ll be on track for the Breeders’ Cup.’ I think this was a great spot for him and he did what he was supposed to do, going into the Breeders’ Cup (Turf Sprint).”

“He’s really done well," sad Devron Leingang, assistant to winning trainer Steve Asmussen. "We had him last year so it’s kind of nice to see him come back. He had the one clunker last year, then they tried him on grass (at Churchill Downs). He went to California and really flourished on the grass out there."

“They went back to Churchill and he won there," added Leingang. "They gave him a break, brought him back for two races. Now he’s won here and he’s going back to Churchill, where he’s two for two.”

As part of the Breeders's Cup "Win and You're In" challenge series, the Nearctic victory guaranteesREGALLY READY, a spot in the starting gate for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G2) Nov. 5 at Churchill Downs.

REGALLY READY has eight wins, two seconds and four thirds in his sixteen starts and he has earned $670,684. He was produced by the King of Kings (IRE) mare, Kivi. He joins Jamaica Handicap winner Western Aristocrat and Arkansas Derby winner Archarcharch as Vinery (Grapestock)-bred and raised Grade 1 winners in 2011.

VINERY STABLES' WESTERN ARISTOCRAT WINS G1 JAMAICA HANDICAP!Saturday, October 08, 2011
By Ashley Herriman
WESTERN ARISTOCRAT controlled the pace and turned back a challenge from favored Brilliant Speed to collect his first Grade 1 victory in Saturday’s $250,000 Jamaica Handicap at Belmont Park.

In the hands red-hot rider Corey Nakatani, who collected his fifth of six victories on the day in the Jamaica, WESTERN ARISTOCRAT was sent straight to the lead where he strolled through opening fractions of 26.27 and 52.20. With Brilliant Speed drawing alongside WESTERN ARISTOCRAT turning for home, the winner was let out and went on to a one-length victory, stopping the clock at 1:50.34 for 1 1/8 miles over Belmont’s “firm” inner turf course.

“The plan was to keep him happy, wherever he was comfortable,” Nakatani said. “I really didn’t want to be on the lead, but we found ourselves up on the lead because there was no pace. It actually turned out for the better because he’s able to do what he’s able to do, and when I called on him he cut and re-broke and ran a big race.”

Vinery Stables' MORNING SHINE sparkled in her racing debut, coming home five and one-half lengths on top in the 6th race at Saratoga, a five and one-half furlong maiden special weight over the sloppy main track.

Originally intended for the turf, the surface switch mattered not to our 2-year-old Lion Heart filly. She nimbly brushed off a bump at the break and she quickly placed herself at the leader's saddlecloth. Three wide for the trip, she was asked for her best at the top of the stretch and she left the field in her wake. She galloped off as much the best to win easily.

It had its heartstopping moments, but Vinery homebred WESTERN ARISTOCRAT remained undefeated with his victory in the 4:10 at Haydock going seven furlongs over the good to firm course.

WESTERN ARISTOCRAT settled behind the pacesetters along the rail in the early furlongs. He was ready to make his bid more than two furlongs out, but the traffic out front offered him no lane to launch his bid. As the final furlong presented, a hole opened and jockey Tom Queally was finally able to let him loose. He accelerated immediately, made that lead and battled a challenger with an unimpeeding trip to the line to win by a thrilling nose.

Now two-for-two, WESTERN ARISTOCRAT is trained by Jeremy Noseda. He is the first foal out of our Kris S. mare, Aristocratic Lady.
